The "Rack"
Welcome to my torture chamber! This is where I spend hours, pedalling away, going nowhere. It is also downstairs in the room with the wood stove and I am simulating desert heat conditions for this summer!
Time on this machine sure goes slower than when you are outside riding outside with scenery going by. I have found that if I read a book while doing the indoor training, that time passes a lot faster. That might have something to do with the time and distance displays being covered up and out of constant sight.
There is a little story about when I acquired this stationary bike. It was last Fall, on Black Friday...the day after Thanksgiving Day. I saw this machine in a MC Sports ad for a very good price for Black Friday only....available at 5:00 a.m.! I have never gone out on that crazy day before to fight the crowds. I set the alarm for 4:00 a.m. and got to the story at about 4:45, expecting a long line, waiting for the doors to open. What I found is the store was alreay open and there were salespeople lined along the main aisle waiting to help anyone that arrived. I had 2 sale items that I wanted, including the stationary bike. I told the nearest salesperson I wanted this particular model in a box. He went to the back and I picked up the snorkel set on sale for my grandson, and met him at the checkout that had no line at all. I was out of there before 5:00 a.m.! My next stop was to Lowe's for an item my daughter-in-law asked me to pick up. There was a line waiting for the door to open, but it opened as soon as I got in line. I was in and out of there in no time as well.
When I got home, I quietly slipped back in bed for more shuteye. I fell back into a deep sleep, only to be awakened by Julie shaking me at about 6:00, asking if I had forgotten to go and missed my alarm!
I replied with a sleepy, proud smile...."I already went!".
