On Sunday afternoon, Al our tour manager took a van load of the volunteers to the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park and I went along. It is a very large natural bridge that eroded out underneath it. The road down into the canyon was a steep 14 percent grade. I'm glad I didn't have to bike out! We hiked down to the bottom of the natural bridge opening and it was a warm climb back out. I am including some photos...it is a very large opening with a small waterfall coming down. In the park there was a group of Javelinas.....peccary, or pig cousins that are wild in the S.W. desert area. It was a very interesting and beautiful visit to this park.
My log of a trans-continental bicycle tour focused on raising awareness and monies to fight global poverty, one person, one family, one community at a time. I plan to log my experiences getting ready for, and along the way of the tour. Tour dates: June 21-August 24 2013. Los Angeles CA to New York City.. 3,900 miles. Each coast-to-coast rider needs to raise $10,000 in donations to fight poverty. To donate...go to www.seatosea.org and click on my name in list of cyclists.

Day 7 - Payson, AZ
With our move ahead to Payson, most of the group missed the planned Sunday services at area Phoenix churches on Sunday. A small group of cyclists elected to stay in the Phoenix area over the weekend to stay with relatives and they did attend one of the Phoenix churches to make a Sea To Sea presence felt. Those that were in Payson on Sunday attended either a local Lutheran Church or a local Presbyterian church. Both churches offered pot lucks for our groups and we had a great time of worship, praise, and fellowship.
