Day 8 - Payson, AZ

It is Oh, Canada Day and the Canadians are all decked out in red maple leaves and flags today. They love their country. See the Drosts in the photo below. We sang "O Canada" at our Peleton meeting at night. It is Monday, and we were still waiting one more day to get back to our riding schedule. A local ride 21 miles round trip to Waterwheel recreation area. It is down a steep canyon and has a small creek/river at the bottom that you can soak it and cool down. Our cooks made a lunch and took it to us for a picnic. It was a relaxing time hiking on the huge boulders and soaking in the cool stream. Some of the younger set found a 10' deep waterhole that they could jump into. There were also 2 small waterfalls. It was good for everyone to get back on their bikes today and get a little exercise. It was however, a steep climb back out of the canyon and most of us elected to jump under our outdoor shower to cool off. The outdoor shower (2) was provided  by the local school we were staying at. One of our guy was so impressed by it's usefulness, that he went to the hardware store and they left him construct one like it in the aisle and set it in Quikcrete at camp and we are now taking it with us wherever we go! Cool!!
