Today is Sunday and as I mentioned we are staying at Bethel CRC in Shiprock. It is right on the corner of the busiest intersection in Shiprock. We joined the Navajo congregation in a great 2 hour service that started at 10:00ish. I say "ish" as the members seem to come at various times and time seems to be an unimportant measure. A few showed up at just before 11:00 and joined in. Some of the songs were in the Navajo language and I am including a picture of one of the song slides. The Navajo language is very hard to learn as you can see. Pastor John has been ministering here for 17 years. He challenged us to not building monuments to ourselves but to be a monument for the Lord Jesus Christ.
The congregation treated us to flat bread tacos and native leaf tea. It was great. Christeena Nienhuis played the piano and Carol Rienstra played the organ. The Bethel Choir led as in a rousing song also. Brandon Haan spoke about the Sea To Sea Tour and did a great job.
Everyone is trying to rest up this afternoon and arranging their things. The gear truck has all the personal baskets removed so Billy can do his weekly hosing out of all the dust and dirt. Julie an I took 4 young folks to Macs to cool off and use their Wi-Fi. It is quite hot today at near 100.
Tomorrow we head out to....I believe it is Turley, NM.
I am including a photo that was taken from our camp, looking at the Shiprock rock formation, about 7-8 miles in the distance. There is one van going to the Four Corners area this afternoon, as it is not very far away.
WOWZER -- you are moving along well! So appreciate the photos... quite a country, yes? Take care...know that so many are praying and watching from back home. Love you guys!
