We woke to threatening weather skies. What a contrast from yesterday. As most we about to leave on the route to Holland, it started to rain.....and it rained all the way to Holland. It was about 60 miles. I rode with Dan Kiel, Herb Boven and Adam. About halfway, Dan had a flat and Herb stayed behind with him while he repaired it. Adam and I kept on as Adam was getting a bad cold and needed to keep going to keep from getting too chilled. I could hear him sneezing behind me as we biked along.
We had one stop at Hope Reformed Church in South Haven. Thanks to them. I grabbed a quick cup of coffee to warm up and we left in the rain again.
We rode into Holland and stopped at the Graffschap CRC for a dish of ice cream and a cup of coffee. It had just stopped raining and we were soaked to the skin. I left wet foot prints on the cement as I walked in my stocking feet. Jim Hayden of the Holland Sentinel was there to interview Adam and I and take our picture.
Just a half mile down the road from there, Adam's mom and brother, Zach, sister, Kristin and husband, Travis Kuiper, and Grandpa Koeman were waiting on the street to greet us. We were so glad to them and it felt so good to be back in our home area. From there we rode on to Hope College, who is hosting everyone in their dorms tonight.
Julie and I opted to go home and sleep in our own bed for a couple nights. We have so much to do to get ready for the next 3 weeks of the tour. We had a chance to go out to eat at New Holland Brewery with some of our family and it was so great to catch up on things.
