Day 43 Grand Rapids, MI to Lainsburg, MI

Our day started with a prayer send off from the Calvin College Chaplain, Mary Hulst. The temps in the morning were very chilly and Dan and I only went 8 miles and decided to warm ourselves with a coffee stop in Cascade and to also let the riders spread out a bit, as we had all started at the same time out of Calvin College.

The route was the same as the 2008 tour. It was a very pretty ride along the Grand River valley and then later through farm country. Our overnight camp was at Sleepy Hollow State Park, near Lainsburg, MI, the same as 2008.

One of the riders took along donated sweet corm that we all enjoyed for dinner. Julie's SAG did the husking while on duty at her SAG stop.

We have to admit to camping in our tent for the first time on the tour. We had been blessed with being able to sleep in a couple bunks of the World Renew travel trailer up until this point. We had our one 7" by 7' room to ourselves. The trailer and pulling vehicle were left in GR. We slept well, even through a little shower that we did not hear.

It was about 66 miles today and everyone was in camp at a fairly early hour.

Our weekend at home was very welcome, but we had so many things and contacts that we wanted to make that our time was gone in no time.
