We had a short mileage day today of only 43 miles, so everyone slept in a bit and were not in a big hurry to get going. By sleeping in, I mean that most were up by 6:00 a.m.! There were a lot of family and friends riding along today as day riders, so the pace was slower.
We rode through some beautiful rolling hill country today, more so a we approached the Ancaster/Hamilton area. We passed through the town of Cambridge and it looked just like we were in Europe. There were a lot of beautiful stone churches and homes. This area has a stretch of the Niagara Escarpment running through it. This is a sharp "ledge" in the rock created by glaciers. This escarpment starts in upper New York state and runs through Ontario, up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and then down through Door County Wisconsin, to the "Ledge" in Central Wisconsin, not far from were Julie and I grew up.
We are in beautiful dorms at Redeemer University College for the next 2 nights. The units have 2 baths and 4 bedrooms, with a shared common area and kitchen. We are with 3 other married couples.
Tonight we had supper provided by the Maranatha CRC that is right behind the campus. There is a special praise service at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow at Redeemer. We are also being provided breakfast at the college cafeteria tomorrow morning, and lunch and dinner by local churches. This is great hospitality.
Julie and I were able to hook up with some area veterans of the 2008 tour that came out for the supper tonight, or are joining the tour from here.
Have a blessed Sabbath day tomorrow.
