Day 45 Imlay City, MI to Sarnia, ON

We awoke to an approaching squall line this morning. We were able to get the tents down and put away before it came through and we were able to get breakfast done. By the time we were ready to start riding, it was getting very dark and there was some lightning. I decided to start out and only got 1.7 miles from camp and it started to rain heavily. Myself and 3 other bikers quickly ducked into a truck stop with a large overhead covering. We waited out the storm for about a 1/2 hour and it had brightened up some, so we decided to leave. We rode in the rain for an hour or more and then it stopped.

We made our way southeast toward the ferry crossing into Canada at Marine City, MI. There was a stiff wind from the south the last 15 miles into Marine City. We all had to get to Marine City by noon to due our mass ferry crossing. I had left my camera battery charging in the gear semi, so I could not take any photos today.....bummer.

From there we biked back north to Sarnia with a good tale wind and level roads and averaged 20+ mph. The Sarnia area churches provided a feast for us tonight in the gym of the Christian School. The school has been so gracious in providing for us. There is a thunderstorm advisory out tonight, so we are trying to decide where to sleep tonight. I have the tent up, but may reconsider and either sleep in the van or the school.

The Canadians are so welcoming and had a large delegation at the point that we got off the ferry and at the school.

Tomorrow it is on to London.
