Day 41 Holland, MI to Grand Rapids, MI

It was a short day today, only about 38 miles from Holland to Calvin College in Grand Rapids. There are a lot of day riders along with us today. My son, Chad, (Adam's Dad) and Adam's friend Ross are riding along today. Chad was worried about keeping up, but did a great job with no problems. I was surprised by about a dozen riders from our church, Haven CRC, that caught up to us and rode in with us to GR. What a neat way to show us support. I had done several training rides with them on Saturdays before my trip and they had a week long ride when Julie and I left, that took them across the Michigan upper peninsula.

We had several treat stops along the way. Lavonne our head cook for part of the trip was at one corner with cold chocolate milk for everyone. We stopped at Shady Grove Park in Jamestown and Love Inc. had a great stop for us. My brother Rick and wife Bonnie, and their son-in-law Eric and 2 of his daughters were there to greet us. It was great to see them all.

It was on to Calvin CRC in Grand Rapids for a lunch stop and our staging area for doing our mass, group ride into Calvin College. The lunch was great and the ride into Calvin College was fun. Phil and Jon rode ahead and blocked all the intersection so our whole large group of over 200 riders could all ride in together. We kept riding, through red lights and four way stops and all!! Everyone was pretty amped and there was a lot of whooping and cheering from the riders and the people that turned out to greet us along the way and at Calvin College. Our daughter-in-law Cindi and her daughter Terah were there and our granddaughter Jenni and her husband Peter were at Calvin College to greet us.

The campers are at the Calvin dorms for the weekend. Julie and I elected to have another night in our own bed and will be back in GR Sunday afternoon for the celebration service and staying in the dorm on Sunday night so we are ready to go on Monday morning. Julie and I stopped by my 96 year old Mom yesterday for a short visit. She is our best supporter and follower! We were sorry we could not join her for lunch on Sunday, as we have so many loose ends to take care of before taking off again. We are off to stop by our son Brett and his wife Jodi's and kids, Jenni, Peter, Tyler, Sam, Ben, and Lydia on our way back to Calvin College.

Please pray for the celebration service later today at Calvin College, and continued safety and health for the remaining 3 weeks of the tour. Your support and encouragement keep us going!!
