Day 44 Lainsburg, MI to Imlay City, MI

We woke to overcast skies and a bit warmer temps. I had my rain gear with me and needed it at about the half way point, as it began to rain and continued for the rest of the day.

We biked through the city of Flint and saw some of the poverty evident in this city that has one of the highest crime rates in the U.S.

Julie found a great SAG stop.  She saw a farm with a circular drive that looked like a good place (since she would not have to back up the portapotty!). She and Doug Haan were co-SAGing.  Doug went to the door to ask permission to use their driveway and they were very willing.  They were so interested in the Sea to Sea tour asking many questions.  They came outside and took pictures and talked with most of the riders which number about 130-140 now since leaving GR.  They enjoyed our stay and plan to write an article for their local newspaper. Thanks to Carl and Carla for their great hospitality!

Near the end of the ride, the wet road had old clay or such on it and it all splatter on our bikes and ourselves from each others rooster tails. I had to squirt off my rain suit and bike to get it off. Dan and I had one great stop at a bakery/coffee shop that we could interact with other there....but no donations.

My brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sue, surprised us with a late afternoon visit. It was so great to see them and hear about their interest in the tour.

The Imlay City CRC church treated the whole camp to ice cream sundaes tonight. THANK YOU!!

Tomorrow we leave the U.S. and enter Canada at the Marine City, MI ferry crossing.

Please continue to pray for safety and health as we make our way through Canada in the next couple weeks.
