Day 54 Brockville, ON to Cornwall, ON

Today we continued our beautiful tour along the St. Lawrence River. The roads are pretty much level here and the winds have been at our back the past few days. The towns we are riding through have a long history and a lot of them have some kind of fortification from the early 1800s to protect the area from invasion from across the river. We could see the state of New York across the river all day.

The route today was about 63 miles. Dan Kiel had sweep team duties today and could not get out of camp until everything was cleaned up. So, I rode alone and with the flat route and tailwind, made really good time and was to our next camp in Cornwall by 11:30 a.m. Area churches again had treats for us along the way. The first was from Bethel CRC that had fed us last night. They had a stop at 8 miles already with cinnamon rolls and boiled eggs and coffee. Last night they served us Boer Kool, which is mashed potatoes with kale cooked in it and a sausage link to go with it. Today, there were also 2 other church stops from CRC churches in the area....one from the Ottawa area, about an hour away and another from John Noordhof's church that was about 8 kilometers off the route.

We are staying at the NAV Center, a training facility for Canadian Aerospace controllers. It also is used as a convention center and training center for others to use. It is very nice and is the cleanest place we have stayed since the college stops. We are camping on their green spaces.

Tomorrow we make our way to Montreal and the route is supposed to stay relatively flat. We can now see the hills across the river in New York State that is the start of the Adirondacks, and we can see the next week will be different.

Thanks for your continued interest and prayer support. We are in good health.....tired, but fine.
