We had another beautiful day biking along the St. Lawrence River. The road was flat, and the temps were cool and comfortable, and there was just a slight breeze. What more could you ask for? Also, the scenery was pretty along the river.
Frank Folkema has rejoined the tour for the last week and a day. He had done the first 3 weeks from L.A. He rode with Dan and I today. We did a Tim Horton stop in the early morning and a lot of other bikers join us. Not quite half way for the day, we crossed into Quebec Province. As we approached the Montreal metro area, we crossed under a tunnel and then next to a huge dam on the river with many turbines to generate electricity. Julie had a pretty SAG stop just past that spot, overlooking the lake across the street.
The roads were busy, but not too bad as it is Saturday morning. We had some very rough stretches along the way. We are camped about 10 miles from downtown Montreal at the Kahnawake Survival School. It appears to be a high school for the Mohawk Indians that live in this area. We rode through a town that was all Mohawk. They have all the signs in English, whereas everything outside of the Mohawk area is in French only.
We are to be bussed into Toronto on Sunday a.m. for a church service, and then can stay for the day to check out the city.
We cannot believe we only have on more week to go. But, after eight weeks on the road, we are also looking forward to the end. It has been a very enjoyable week of biking this past week, with all the local church support, beautiful weather, and comfortable riding distances and conditions.
Photos look great-- thank you for posting!
